The History of Our Clinic

Our Clinic Opened in 2021 as a Home Based Clinic

Our Humble Beginnings

The Wood Buffalo Massage & Osteopathic Therapy Clinic was founded in 2021 in Timberlea, Fort McMurray as a home-based clinic by our pioneers, Freddie, Joy, and Charles.

From the very beginning, their vision was simple but powerful: to provide high-quality Massage Therapy and Manual Osteopathy with care, compassion, and a deep commitment to the community.

Guided by their Filipino heritage, they embraced the value of malasakit, putting patients’ needs first and treating everyone like family.

Even in its early days, the clinic focused on accessibility. Many residents either lacked insurance or had exhausted their coverage, so Freddie, Joy, and Charles introduced the lowest massage rates in town, captured by the community-driven slogan: “No Insurance, No Problem.” This initiative allowed the clinic to reach more people in need while maintaining professional, skilled care.

A Major Milestone: Our 2024 Fraser Avenue Expansion

In 2024, our clinic expanded to a larger location on Fraser Avenue, reflecting the growth of both our staff and services. This move allowed us to better serve the Wood Buffalo community with additional Massage Therapy and Manual Osteopathy services, providing more patients with access to effective and conservative care.

From a humble home-based clinic to a thriving community wellness center, our mission remains unchanged: to provide compassionate, accessible, and professional care that improves lives.

Expansion to the Timberlea (Eagle Ridge) Branch

In February 2026, Wood Buffalo Massage & Osteopathic Therapy Clinic marked another major milestone with the opening of its Timberlea Branch at Eagle Ridge Commons. On February 18, the clinic officially began operations at Unit 11–125 Eagle Ridge Boulevard, beside Twedy’s Nail and Spa.

This new Timberlea location represents the clinic’s continued commitment to serving the growing community with accessible, high-quality Massage Therapy and Manual Osteopathy. By expanding within the Timberlea area, the clinic strengthened its roots in the neighborhood where it was first established.

The Eagle Ridge Branch allows the clinic to accommodate more patients, reduce wait times, and expand its team of skilled therapists, ensuring that more individuals and families have access to effective and conservative care.

This expansion reflects the clinic’s steady growth while remaining grounded in its founding values of compassion, professionalism, and community-centered service.

Meet the team!

Federico Ancheta RMOT, RMT, SSW, REALTOR®

Hi, I’m Freddie! I was born and raised in Central Luzon, Philippines, and have been a licensed Physiotherapist since 2006.

I’m also licensed to practice in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Qatar, where I gained valuable experience working with diverse clients.

About seven years ago, my wife Joy, our eldest son Charles, and I moved to Fort McMurray to start a new chapter. Since then, we’ve been blessed with two more wonderful children, Harry and Maria Elizabeth.

I studied Massage Therapy at the Alberta College of Massage Therapy and Manual Osteopathy at the Manual Osteopathic College of Canada. These programs have deepened my passion for holistic care and broadened the ways I can support my clients.

Right now, I’m completing my Physiotherapy Credentialing here in Canada. I recently graduated from CDI College as a Social Service Worker and have also pursued further education in health and wellness.

In addition to my healthcare journey, I’m also a licensed REALTOR® with eXp Realty. Whether you're looking to buy, sell, or invest, I’m here to guide you through every step of the real estate journey with professionalism and care.

Joy Ancheta RMOT, RMT, SSW

Hi, I’m Joy!

I was born in the southern part of Luzon and raised in the north of the Philippines.

My healthcare journey started overseas—I’m also a licensed Physiotherapist in Qatar, where I developed a deep love for helping people heal and feel their best.

I completed my Massage Therapy training at Alberta College of Massage Therapy, where I was honoured to be recognized as an Ambassador to help inspire others in the field.

I later pursued Manual Osteopathy and proudly graduated from the Manual Osteopathic College of Canada.

When I’m not working with clients, you can usually find me in the kitchen—I have a big passion for cooking Asian cuisines and sharing meals with friends and family. I truly love what I do and feel grateful every day to support others on their wellness journey.

Charles Joseph Ancheta, RMT, Cand. MOT

Hi, I’m Charles! I’m a proud graduate of the Alberta College of Massage Therapy and currently continuing my journey at the Manual Osteopathic College of Canada, where I’m training to become a Manual Osteopathic Therapist.

Helping people feel better has always been a passion of mine. I truly believe in the power of continuous learning, which is why I also studied Practical Nursing at Keyano College to expand my knowledge of holistic health and patient care.

Back in 2019, I was honoured to receive the Great Kids Award for my involvement in the community—a moment I’ll always be proud of. These experiences have shaped how I approach client care today: with compassion, empathy, and a commitment to making a difference.

Being part of our clinic’s growth and helping build a space our community can trust has been such a meaningful journey. I’m excited to keep learning and healing alongside the amazing team here.
